OFFICINE UBU

Officine UBU is the evolution of UBU Film, the production company founded by Franco Zuliani in 2001.
Always attentive to the promotion of new talents and the realization of innovative and  high-quality works, Officine UBUI realized between 2002 and 2003, the feature films La spettatriceby Paolo Franchi starring Barbora Bobulova, Andrea Renzi and Brigitte Catillon, and Fame chimica, starring Valeria Solarino, Marco Foschi and Teco Celio. For his work as a producer of these two films, Franco Zuliani has been awarded with the F.I.C.E. Award (Federazione Italiana Cinema ‘Essai) for the best producer in 2004.

In 2006 Officine UBU moved the first steps into the theatrical distribution by keeping the same guiding principles: the pursuit of originality, quality and innovation. Following these main features, Officine UBU released in Italy the most important films of international directors such as Wim Wenders, Olivier Assayas, Terry Gilliam, François Ozon, Nicholas Winding Refn, Anne Fontaine, Patrice Leconte, Takashi Miike, Cédric Klapisch, Jia Zangke, Emmanuelle Bercot, Michael Winterbottom, Julie Delpy, Marjane Satrapi, Tony Kaye, Valérie Donzelli, Sam Garbarski, Alex de la Iglesia, Shane Meadows, Nicholas Philibert and brought to public attention the talent of italian authors like Gianfranco Rosi, Paolo Franchi, Francesco Patierno, Valerio Jalongo e Giuseppe M. Gaudino.

There are many films distributed by Officine UBU that have been awarded in the festival from all over the world: Oscar Nominee for the Best Documentary and Special Prize in Cannes for The Salt of the Earthby Wim Wenders, Golden Lion in Venice for Sacro GRAby Gianfranco Rosi, Best Directing Award for Sara Colangelo, the director of The Kindergarten Teacher, Coppa Volpi to Valeria Golino for her performance in Per amor vostroby Giuseppe M. Gaudino, Best Screenplay Award at Cannes for A Touch of Sinby Jia Zangke, Best Screenplay at Cannes for Something in the Airby Olivier Assayas.

Officine UBU has always dedicated great attention towards documentaries. In the recent years there have been many quality documentaries offered to the public, including the box box office his Sacro GRAand The Salt of the Earthand the film event The Sense of Beauty, Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bamiby Sophie Fiennes, Astrosamantha,Sea Sorrow, the debut feature of Vanessa Redgrave as a director.
